Weekend Events Guide; September 11th Edition

Today, please make sure to take a moment to honor our country and those who sacrificed their lives on 9/11.  Then, take a look at the events coming up this weekend- lots to do in and around town- and enjoy!

Friday- The Garden City Promenade continues on Seventh St at 6pm and runs until 10pm. Enjoy Seventh St with your friends and neighbors. There will be live music, face painting, balloon artists, al fresco dining and more! Be sure to support our local businesses while you're there! Tonight's theme is "Remembrance." The promenade will run every Friday night through September. 

Friday- The Garden City Fire Department will be conducting a 9/11 Remembrance Service at 6:45pm with a formal program scheduled to begin at 7:00 PM. The service will take place on the Village Green at the 9/11 Village Memorial, which is located on the west side of the Village Gazebo at the corner of Hilton and Stewart Avenue. All are welcome. 


Friday- Garden City Community Church will hold a candlelight vigil in the chapel in remembrance of those lost on 9/11/01. All are welcome.


Saturday- Watch the Cosmos play the Jacksonville Armada FC. 7pm. Hofstra University's James M. Stuart Stadium. Click here for more information. 


Saturday- Free craft for kids at Lakeshore Learning Store. 11am-3pm. 2079 Hillside Ave, New Hyde Park. Ages 3 and up. 


Saturday- Enjoy the Three Tenors Concert at Adelphi. 2pm. Tickets: $20. Seniors: $15. Concert Hall. Purchase tickets here


Saturday- Circle It! Look, share and create on the Second Saturday of the month (Sept. - Nov.) from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the Hofstra University Museum!  In each session, kids ages 5-10 years and their grown-up companions explore works of art and engage in a hands-on activity inspired by what they have seen and discussed. In the September workshop, Circle It!, attendees will explore artist Doug Hilson’s use of circles and color in his “urbanscapes,” and then create a colorful circular work of art. 1:30-2:30pm.
